Andrew Koening

A tearful Walter Koenig appeared at a press conference Thursday evening to confirm that a  body found earlier in the day in Vancouver's Stanley Park was that of his son, missing "Growing Pains" actor Andrew Koenig.

"My son took his own life," Walter Koenig said, wife Judy at his side.

Both parents and about 10 of Andrew's friends had returned to Stanley Park -- which at 1,000 acres is larger than New York's Central Park -- on Thursday morning to conduct their own search. They split into teams, Walter said, and after about two hours a call came from the other team saying that Andrew's body had been found. Walter and Judy then went to the site.

The Koenigs pleaded with others who might have depressed family members to recognize the signs.

Walter Koenig appealed to those who might be in emotional pain: "If you can learn anything from this, it's that there are people out there who really care, and you may not think so, and ultimately it may not be enough, but ... before you make that final decision, check it out again, talk to somebody."

Bob Marley

Jamaicans will honour late reggae greats BOB MARLEY and PETER TOSH when the doors to the nation's music museum open next year (11).

Rare pieces of memorabilia will go on display at the Jamaica Music Museum, which will document and preserve artifacts from the Caribbean country's rich music history.

Items to be exhibited include the album Marley produced before he became famous - Martha Velez's Escape from Babylon - as well as a cassette tape that features Tosh performing a blues track with Rolling Stones stars Keith Richards and Sir Mick Jagger in 1977.

The country's preservationists took a hit after historic film footage and thousands of original records were stolen from a collection of archives in Kingston during a raid in January 2008.

The reels have still not been located - and government authorities are appealing for donations to help invest in the new music museum, according to the Associated Press.

Glendale, Calif. (AP) - A member of the pop group Girlicious has been charged in California with drug possession with the intent to sell after Glendale police allegedly found a dozen plastic bags of cocaine in her Gucci purse.

Prosecutors say 21-year-old Natalie Mejia of Diamond Bar and 28-year-old Peter Asencio of Burbank were charged Thursday in Glendale Superior Court.

Asencio is accused of speeding in a 1998 Ford Mustang when he and Mejia were pulled over and arrested Tuesday night.

Police say Mejia said the drugs were not hers and claimed she didn't know how they got into her purse. Asencio was also charged with driving on a suspended license.

Arraignment was continued to April 15.

A University of Mississippi football player has died after collapsing during the first day of team workouts.

The university says 20-year-old Bennie F. Abram died Friday at a hospital in Oxford. The non-scholarship junior transferred from Itawamba Community College last fall.

Trainers noticed that Abram was having difficulty early Friday shortly after the workout started. Officials say the trainers began first aid and called 911. Abram died several hours later.

Lafayette County Coroner Rocky Kennedy says an autopsy will be performed Saturday. He says there's no foul play involved. The high temperature in Oxford reached 57 degrees Friday.

Coach Houston Nutt called Abram a hard worker and fine young man.
