After a swift increase in airplay new music from Usher and Jay-Z rose on the R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart this week, dominating the chart's top two positions.

"Papers," Usher's lead single from an album dubbed "Raymond Vs. Raymond," moved a reported two spots after five weeks on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart to reach no.2 Thursday. Leading the singer's follow up to the 2008 effort "Here I Stand," Usher's "Papers" topped Maxwell's no.1 hit "Pretty Wings," which falls 1-3 this week.

Replacing Maxwell in reaching the summit, after nine weeks on the chart, Jay-Z's "Empire State of Mind" leaped 2-1 this week.

Featuring Alicia Keys, "Empire State of Mind" is the first single to reach no.1 from Jay-Z's 2009 effort "The Blueprint 3". Following the Rihanna and Kanye West assisted single "Run This Town," "Empire State of Mind" also ends up in the top 5 on this week's Hot 100 (no.2).
