One star of NBC's Thursday night television tradition will salute another with the nation's top humor prize during a ceremony next month in Washington.

Jerry Seinfeld, who starred in the iconic series "Seinfeld" on Thursday nights, will honor Bill Cosby of "The Cosby Show" on Oct. 26 with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, reports the Associated Press.

"The Cosby Show" originated the Peacock's tradition of airing its highest-rated sitcoms in a two-hour block on Thursday nights.

Seinfeld will be joined by Chris Rock, "Cosby" co-stars Phylicia Rashad and Malcolm-Jamal Warner and others for the presentation, which will be broadcast nationally Nov. 4 on PBS.

The 72-year-old Cosby already received the Kennedy Center Honors in 1998 and a Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2002.
